Research And Publications

There is a considerable amount written about supplier diversity and some research carried out.

SDE have produced a particular research report that looks at patterns and good practice on the subject across Europe: Handbook on Supplier Diversity europe.

This Supplier Diversity Handbook provides a unique collection of data and information relevant to supplier diversity in Europe, including:

• Examples of current good practice in supplier diversity and learning from it.

• Business case and business drivers.

• Data demonstrating trend in population and business demographics in Europe.

• An examination of relevant legislation.

• An extensive list of references , web-sites and further information.

• Getting Started on Supplier Diversity (By SDE): This is a plain English guide to getting an organisation started in supplier diversity.

• Diversity and equality in European Cities (The Dive Project): this presents the benchmarks to be used a part of a review process that explores 4 roles of cities relevant for integration and governance.

• Supplier Diversity: A guide for purchasing organisations: A detailed outline on how to develop a supplier diversity programme prepared by the Commission for Racial Equality.

• Buying Social: A guide to taking account of social considerations in public procurement: produced in 2010 by the European Commission.

• Equality Act 2010: Public Sector Duty: A short Guide for UK Public sector organisations published by the Government Equality Office.

• Equality Act 2010: The public sector duty: reducing bureaucracy: A short review paper outlining the UK government’s approach to delivering equality.

• European anti-discrimination law in a nutshell: A short guide to this area of law by Jan Niessen.

• Commande publique et acces a l’emploi des personnes qui en sont eloignees : A guide published in 2010 by Observatoire economique de l’achat public. It looks at supplier diversity in public contracts in France.

• Diversity Charter in France: Diversity charters have been developed in some European countries. They commit companies of all sizes to take action on diversity with a number of specific steps being taken.

Still in 2008, the Commission organised a major conference on “Entrepreneurial Diversity in a Unified Europe”, during which an EC-commissioned study on good practices in ethnic minority entrepreneurship was presented.”
